A Love Letter to Ginny, 2021, 17x22”, Digital collage of archival photographs and heirloom objects

I have only a few glimpses of memories with my Grandma, Ginny, before her Alzheimer’s progressed. Eventually, she grew quiet and became withdrawn from most conversation. I think about our lives like a Venn diagram––two circles intertwining at the center, only to be overlapped by a small margin. This collage represents that space for me in my mind. Using family photographs, notes and heirloom objects, I draw parallels between our lives and the generations within our family while highlighting the gaps that remain.
